The transition from Android to iOS done in a few steps. However, you have to decide whether you want to continue using Google services or switch completely to iOS. We show you two different solutions in our change guide.
If you say goodbye to Android and switch completely to iOS, you should first save the most important data on the computer: For example, to take the contacts from Android to iOS, open the browser application and click on “More | Export”. Select the item “All contacts” and the format “vCard”. The file is saved as “contacts.vcf”.
Similarly, export the calendar: open the calendar in the browser , click Settings, and choose Export Calendar | Calendar. As soon as you confirm your entry, a ZIP archive is automatically downloaded, which you just have to unpack. Then you will receive a file with the extension “.ics”.
The import of the contacts and the calendar are pleasingly easy on iOS: Send both files (“.vcf”, “.ics”) to your mail address and open the files via mail app on your iPhone or iPad. This method usually works without errors, but it can happen that a vCard with many contacts causes problems. If you do not like import via e-mail, we recommend that you use the iCloud: Open the online store in the browser , click on “Contacts” and then on the gear symbol at the bottom of the screen. Under “import vCard” you load the “contacts.vcf”.
The iPhone does not support access to personal storage unlike Android, but photos can still be easily exchanged: Connect both devices to the computer and simply copy the photos from one folder to another.
If your images are not local, but in the cloud, download them first to integrate them into the iOS ecosystem. To do this, open the Google Photos page ( photos.google.com ) in the browser and select the albums you want to back up. Google will then mark all photos, which you can now download as a ZIP archive. Videos load the same way from the cloud to the PC.
Now you can copy the pictures to the iPhone. Alternatively, use iTunes: Open the program and click on your iDevice. Select “Photos | Sync photos from” and check “All Folders” or “Selected Folders” if you want to customize which photos sync iTunes. If films are also in your picture folders, you should additionally mark “include videos”. To insert music and movies, click on “Add file to library” in the clipboard (small window icon in the top left corner).
